III NOVOSIBIRSK INTERNATIONAL TRIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY GRAPHIC ARTS

I was invited to be the Curator of the Dutch entry for this Triennial. I have chosen printmakers who reflect different aspects of the Netherlands: how, maybe as a result of living in this crowded country, some artists create a personal space for their figures where only they exist;  how, on the other hand, there is also the wide, low country, with its endless horizons, rivers, skies, dunes and polders; and finally there are those artists (and I included myself here), who need to escape the denseness of the homeland and travel. Their images tell of other cultures and natures. The selected artists are: Hans Andringa, Bea van der Heijden, Marcelle Hanselaar, Elsbeth Cochius, Jadranka Njegovan, Siemen Dijkstra, Jan Naezer, Gea Karhof, Nan Mulder and Rolf Weijburg.
