After al this time with closed museums and galleries, it is great to see that slowly the art world is opening again. Here the latest exhibitions with some extra information. I was honoured this year to be invited to be the curator of the Dutch selection for the III Novosibirsk International Triennial of Contemporary Graphic Arts 2021. This entry was sponsored by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Russia. More information below.
III NOVOSIBIRSK INTERNATIONAL TRIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY GRAPHIC ARTS
I was invited to be the Curator of the Dutch entry for this Triennial. I have chosen printmakers who reflect different aspects of the Netherlands: how, maybe as a result of living in this crowded country, some artists create a personal space for their figures where only they exist; how, on the other hand, there is also the wide, low country, with its endless horizons, rivers, skies, dunes and polders; and finally there are those artists (and I included myself here), who need to escape the denseness of the homeland and travel. Their images tell of other cultures and natures. The selected artists are: Hans Andringa, Bea van der Heijden, Marcelle Hanselaar, Elsbeth Cochius, Jadranka Njegovan, Siemen Dijkstra, Jan Naezer, Gea Karhof, Nan Mulder and Rolf Weijburg.
